The plants that are found here thrive
in a habitat where salt sea air and short growing seasons
are the natural occurrence. Dwarfed trees like pine and balsam
fir are scattered right to the ocean’s edge, while much
of the plant life is similar to that found in the Arctic.
Due to the environment, many of the same species of marine
organisms found in the oceans and ponds here have also been
found by scientists in the high Arctic regions. |
