Rocky Island Tours: the Owners
Dorim
Dorim has always been a creative person.
A Jack of many trades, he is a master of some. He followed
a career as an industrial millwright for more than 20 years
and was known by his colleagues as a man who could “get
you out of a jam”.
His industrious mindset does not limit him
to mechanical applications, however. He has quite an eye for
old buildings, boats, and furniture that needs his tender
loving care. From the shacks he built as a boy to the refurbishing
job he did on his first sailboat, Dorim has a gifted hand.
He can create quite the garden as well.
He has celebrated many accomplishments during
his career as a millwright and through his personal ventures,
but Dorim will mostly tell you that his greatest passion is
helping those in need. To that end, he has taken many months
away from his career over the years to travel to countries
in need. He has spent many tenures in developing countries
delivering and installing pumps in impoverished communities
so that the people there could have access to safe drinking
water. Never all business, Dorim was always accompanied by
“Dori-the-Red’s Tickle Trunk”. Once he had
a minute to spare, he would don his outfit and emerge as Dori-the-Red,
the clown. Riding his unicycle, he would tie balloons for
the children in the community and bring joy and laughter to
those around him.

Dorim does not appreciate “idle hands”
and does whatever he can to make sure he is busy all the time.
If he is not working he’ll be long gone, doing “something
or other”.
