What to Bring on the Tour
The weather in Newfoundland is often
“changeable” as the locals say. Summer temperatures
are usually warm and pleasant but visitors should be
equipped for cooler wet weather as well.
We recommend you bring a warm sweater,
fleece or jacket as well as lightweight rain clothes.
Rain gear will be provided for boat tours. Light weight
clothing is recommended for underneath as it does get
quite warm in summer on board the boat as well as on
the hikes.
As hiking will be over hard ground
and not through brush, your preference of either long
or short pants is acceptable. Sturdy hiking boots are
recommended for all walking tours and boots with non-skid
soles are recommended for the boat tours.
An ample supply of socks will add to
your comfort. Some visitors may also wish to bring insect
repellent (for black flies) and a fly jacket.
Anyone requiring prescription medication
is advised to bring an ample supply as the nearest pharmacy
(located at Burgeo) will not be easily accessible while
on tour in Francois. We also recommend you bring a small
personal first aid kit.
The photographer will not want to leave
his camera behind and be sure to bring an ample supply
of film. The terrain and ocean will offer up some of
the most spectacular views you could hope to find anywhere.
Binoculars are a must if you want to take full advantage
of the surroundings.
